Privacy Policy
mosee is built privacy-first: EU-hosted, GDPR-compliant, no ads, and we never sell your data. This page explains what we collect and why.
Who we are
The data controller for mosee is its developer, based in Belgium. For any privacy question, contact [email protected].
What we collect
- Account — your email address (or an anonymous account), or by signing in with Google or Apple — entirely optional, from the app's Settings — which also shares your name and profile photo. Plus the sign-up date. Browsing the map needs no account.
- Contributions — the rest stops you add, your “still there / gone” verifications, photos and reports. These are public by design.
- Approximate location — used only on-device to centre the map on “near me”. Coverage-gap signals are rounded to ~110 m and carry no link to you.
- Push token — if you enable notifications, so we can send the alerts you asked for.
- Usage events — which features you use, so we know what to improve. First-party only, and you can switch it off — see “Usage measurement” below.
Launch waitlist
If you sign up on our home page to be notified at launch, we store your email address (in the EU) for one purpose: to email you once, when mosee launches. We don’t use it for anything else and we don’t share it. Ask us to remove you at any time at [email protected].
Legal basis
We process account and contribution data to provide the service (contract), location and notifications with your consent, and basic security logging plus usage measurement on our legitimate interest in keeping mosee working and improving it. You can object to usage measurement at any time by switching it off in the app.
Usage measurement
To decide what to improve next, we record which features get used — which screens are opened, what is tapped, and whether a flow was finished or abandoned. This is first-party only: measured by us, stored in the same EU database as the rest of mosee, with no third-party analytics or advertising SDK anywhere in the app or on this website.
Events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device — never to your name, email or precise location — and that identifier is kept for at most 13 months. Raw events are deleted after 90 days; beyond that only anonymous totals remain. You can turn this off at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy & data.
Where your data lives
Data is stored in the EU (Supabase). Email is sent via Resend (EU region). Map data comes from OpenStreetMap. If you sign in with Google or Apple, they verify your identity and share your profile details with us to create your account — Google’s transfer of that data to the US runs under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, Apple’s under Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell your data or use advertising trackers.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time from the app, or by emailing [email protected]. Deleting your account anonymises your public contributions (they stay on the map, un-attributed) and removes your personal data.
Retention
We keep account data until you delete your account. Raw usage events are deleted after 90 days, and the device identifier they carry after at most 13 months. Anonymised, aggregate coverage and usage totals may be kept — the first to advocate for better public amenities, the second to see whether mosee is getting better over time.
Changes
We’ll update this page as mosee grows and note the date of the last change here.
